Save Your Company, Do an Employee Criminal Background Check

In any company, it is very important to do an employee criminal background check on the workers to make sure that you hired the right people. Applicants might impress you during job interviews, but an hour or so of talking to them does not give you enough about their true backgrounds. Also, it is very easy to tell lies, especially to people that you are meeting for the first time.
An employee criminal background check is best done right after you hire a new member of the staff. At this point, you already have some key information about the new employee that will lead you to a deeper investigation.
Start by doing an online search about the new employee. Use search engines and people finder sites that contain millions of public documents that is made available for you to view for a minimal fee. Access to these sites usually requires membership but setting up an account only takes a few minutes.
Employee Criminal Background Check
After searching online, try doing an employee criminal background check by calling up the numbers indicated on the character reference section of the new employee’s resume. Ask questions that will confirm the accuracy of the other contents of the employee’s resume as well as the things that you talked about during the interview. Take down notes as you speak with the person so you can compare it with the notes that you jotted down during the interview.
Aside from simply finding out if a new employee is telling the truth, conducting an employee criminal background check is also helpful in the early detection of identity theft. More and more people are committing this crime and you can do something to protect your company from hiring an identity thief. If identity theft is suspected, of course there will be no chance at all that you will hire that applicant. But you may still do a background check on the person so that you might also help the authorities in catching the suspected thief.
